My name is Michael Weiss. I am a photojournalist based in Silver Spring, MD. I have spent the past three decades capturing the beauty of nature on land and underwater. On land, I love observing the life-cycle and behavior of wildlife. I am equally fascinated with marine photography, capturing images of reef fish, reef creatures, creatures that roam our planet's waterways and the actual reefs themselves. I began my photographic journey 30 years ago as a marine photographer. I recently retired after a 40 year career with NASA and now spend a lot more time in the field. I have appeared on NPR, NOVA, Nat Geo and local affiliate stations around the Washington DC area. My vision is to use nature photography to educate, raise awareness of environmental impacts to both humans and animals and to share the wonders and beauty of nature throughout our planet.
